Collegium Helveticum in the Semper Observatory, 11.11.1997

Roman Signer (*1938)

About this artwork

This work was created to mark the inauguration of the Collegium Helveticum housed in the former Swiss Federal Observatory. Internationally renowned artist Roman Signer fitted a remote-controlled model helicopter with spray cans and covered black flooring slabs with white spots. The work is both a painting and an art action, a creative process and an experimental arrangement. The result – mirroring the function of the observatory – is like a starry sky adorning the ceiling at ETH Zurich.
